The Star Ship Intrepid crew have once again teamed up with the people behind Hidden Frontier, and the result, Operation Beta Shield, has now been released.

Pretty cool though it’s more like an extra-long episode than a complete film in itself—the pilot for a new series rather than something that stands alone. If the various post-Hidden Frontiers series are going to be so intertwined then they are going to have to give them an parallel numbering scheme like the various Superman titles with their ‘shield numbers’ …
Oh, it’s quite true. In fact, this is essentially a pilot, or at least a lead-in, to a new HF series, Federation One.
The Hidden Frontier people are very focussed on making series, and so that’s their particular thing. I think Intrepid are more about stand-alone stories, if for no other reason than we can’t crank out episodes as fast as HF!
