Well, I appear to have passed my Contact Lens Wearing Test, and am now the proud possessor of 30 pairs of daily lenses. I think I’ve finally mastered putting them in (basically, doing it right-handed for my left eye, and left-handed for the right); taking them out is pretty easy.
Wearing them is mostly odd rather than actually uncomfortable. I suppose it’s just the same level of inconvenience as wearing glasses, but I’m used to glasses, so I no longer notice those. Sometimes it’s just bizarre to be able to see without a framework of metal and plastic on my nose…
The intention was to have use contacts for the rest of the week, to really get used to them, but I’m on-call, which is not conducive to actual sleep, so this morning I was just too knackered to bother. So I used my new peril light-sensitive glasses instead. Perhaps tomorrow.

I put my lenses in with my left hand for the left lens, right for right, too. It seems to work. I have had lenses for years and I still try to push my glasses up my nose, or try to take my glasses off when I’m going to bed, only to find I have lenses in!! However, I do see much better with lenses. I don’t get the fuzzy-round-the-edges effect that I do with my glasses on.
Kate.
