We were in The Guardian on Wednesday, and The Daily Record today (and apparently the Daily Express, but I can’t find an online link).
The Guardian interview was interesting. I went up to Dundee for it, and had about 1/2 hour of chat with Kirsty Scott, the reporter, and then we were left to the tender mercies of the photographer, Murdo MacLeod. Now, I could understand the first few shots, where he was showing how the Intrepid set wall was in their kitchen (photos of some of us “acting”, while I got milk out of the fridge). So far so good. Then he started having us pose with kitchen implements (!). At this point, I had no idea what he was going for, other than the traditional “Trekkies are wierd”.
Now, we hoped that the “silly” pictures were just too daft to be used, but no. Apparently the idea of filming a Star Trek episode in your kitchen isn’t as interesting as someone gazing soulfully into an iron.
Of course, we didn’t actually say anything at the time. Instead we just stood there and did everything the photographer said. Pah. Next time, hopefully, we’ll know better.

Some large fraction of what makes a professional photographer is being able to ask people to do undiginified things and photograph them before they think it through. I doubt many fashion shoots would work if the model was invited to consider whether she really wants to be seen on the front of FHM looking like that…
