Just been watching the BBC Breakfast News while getting ready for work, and the top story is protesters kicking up a stink around the G8 Conference. One of the images they keep repeating is of one guy smashing up a car.

Okay, I know that the media is selective in the images it shows, and it’s a nice juicy shot, and it won’t be representative of the vast majority of the people who want to protest at the G8.

It’s just… what did this guy hope to achieve? What was going through his mind that made it acceptable to take a metal bar to somebody’s car? In public? He was breaking off the car’s number plate and making a big show of breaking it. In a “take that!” kind of way. Who was he trying to convince? And of what?
